First Lady Bette J. Griffin
Bette J. Northington-Griffin is a native of Seattle, Washington. She married her High School sweetheart, James, over 40 years ago. She is the mother of 3, James, Jr. graduate of TN State U., (Monica), Damon, graduate of Morehouse and UT School of Law, (Elke) and Marian, graduate of U of M, (Myron). She is the grandmother of 8, Myles James, Myron Sanchez, Donovan Bryson, Mariah LeeAnne, Maya Kennedy, Jordyn A., Madison Daneile and Damon K., II.
Her Business background led her to become an entrepreneur. She was CEO of her own Bridal Consulting and Wedding Coordinating Business, and Simply Elegance Ladies Fashions and Hats for over 20 years. When Federal Express called her husband to Memphis, Tennessee she joined him and soon after started a new career as Office Manager for the General Secretary's Office of the Church of God in Christ Headquarters for 18 years.
She is the First Lady of New Beginnings Community Church and Evangelist Missionary. In her local church she is the Founder and Leader of The NBCC "Stress Free" Women's Ministry. She is the Leader of the Young Women's Christian Counsel of the Pentecostal District and Ordination Candidates Wives Coordinator for the Headquarters Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ. She is also the Founder and Facilitator of "Caregivers Release and Support Group."
Evangelist Griffin has carried the profound message of God's love and hope for women into many Pulpits, Banquets and Conferences. Her obedience to God led her to organize New Beginnings Community Church First Annual Women's Conference entitle, "Women Releasing and Preparing to be Victorious in Christ."
